Social Action in the Parish
October 2007
During the last 12 months the parish has raised funds for the following charities:

Around 60 parishioners contribute regularly to the Association for the Propagation of the Faith by means of the familiar red boxes or bankers standing orders.
We have a stall selling Traidcraft goods after Masses on the first weekend of every month.
Friday Self Denial offerings to various charities.

Practical help given:
Members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul visit the elderly, the lonely and the sick in hospital or at home, provide transport to hospital appointment and take people shopping
Parishioners are actively involved in the Kemp Town Soup Run organised by the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
The Communication Club runs every Monday afternoon for the deaf and hard of hearing and those wishing to communicate with them

Other Charities we, the parishioners of STM, have supported in the past:
Local: Hand in Hand special needs group; The Diocesan Lourdes Fund; Clockhouse Sanctuary assisting young homeless people; St. Anne's Day Centre providing food and support for the homeless and lonely; Brighton Voices in Exile supporting those seeking asylum and refugees; and B&H Life which provides support for unmarried mothers.
National: Apostleship of the Sea and the Medical Foundation for torture victims.
 

There is a Parish Social Action Meeting in the church hall every month.
It is at 8.15 pm on the second Friday (first Friday in November).
